Why We Celebrate Thanksgiving

Innumerable blessings have been bestowed upon the United States of America. Concerning these blessings President Lincoln wrote: “No human counsel hath devised, nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. Our American Thanksgiving originally was a day to remember the God of our Fathers and His blessings on our land. Today, however, it is all about feasting and football. Restoring Thanksgiving will require a culture-wide renewal, and Dr. Kennedy, with coauthor Charles Hull Wolfe, outlines steps believers can take to restore their own Thanksgiving Day observance.

Relying heavily on her friends, Elizabeth and Priscilla, and the affection of an English Springer Spaniel named Loyal, Mercy survives the crossing and their first perilous months in America. But she is tested through painful loss, her attraction to the handsome but disturbing Jack Billington, and the perils of living in a danger-filled wilderness. Mercy faces her greatest challenge when she and her Indian friend Amie make an ominous discovery. Young rebels in the colony have so provoked the Native Americans that all-out war seems certain.
