For many years Desta channeled her penchant for perfection
by working in law offices and volunteering to produce church bulletins. Then
the Lord put her in touch with Verna M. Hall and Rosalie J. Slater, co-founders
of the Foundation for American Christian Education in San Francisco. She began
as a phone volunteer counseling homeschooling parents and soon graduated to
digitizing microfiche of early American documents in period English, along with
Greek and Hebrew words. For eighteen years she worked and learned in “The
Ladies’” incredible personal library, assisting in research, technical editing
and producing all of their publications from draft to printed books.
When the Foundation relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia, in 2005, Desta became a private contractor, continuing to assist with the Foundation’s publications, as well as publishing her husband’s music. She now does business as dg-ink and with Nordskog Publishing, helping produce Bible-based books that spread God’s Word and glorify Him – for the sake of the Gospel and for our Nation.

Nordskog Publishing’s founding Theology Editor and personal friend, Rev. Christopher Hoops, has gone home to be with the Lord, Thursday July 17, after a lengthy and painful illness at his Roseville, CA home. Hoops encouraged Jerry & Gail Nordskog, after selling Powerboat Magazine, to embark into the Christian publishing business in the last couple of years, beginning with reprinting of The Battle of Lexington book (see Chris Hoops article in that book). Chris Hoops is a long time loyal friend, who regularly participated in Nordskog’s Southern California Constitution Education Committee, giving speeches about American’s Christian History and Liberty in Christ (1987-2000). A faithful Christian for most of his adult life, Chris Hoops was a leader in Reformed theology and the history of the Church and a great reader of theology and history books, writing and speaking and teaching others in the faith. Rev. Hoops has been reunited with his oldest daughter, Erin, who died in an auto accident at age 16 many years ago in Colville, WA where the family lived for many years and Chris received his liver transplant, which eventually failed. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gail, and sons Christopher (and his wife Shay), Michael, and adopted daughters still living at home: Bridgette, Tia, and Katie.
As a student at San Bernardino Bible College, Chris Hoops began making missionary field trips to the Navajo and Hopi reservations, partnering with local missionaries. After graduation he was asked to teach Old Testament history and minor prophets at his alma mater (1976-1980).
In 1979, Hoops co-founded the Inland Christian Center Academy and served as principal and administrator. In 1980, he moved to Arizona for one year to help missionary friends teach Bible and theology to Navajo and Hopi students.
From 1981-1984 Hoops traveled around the country, lecturing on the need for home schooling, for teaching America's Christian History and for recovering the contribution of Christianity to Western civilization. These activities led to his founding of American Heritage Christian Church (Camarillo, CA) from 1984-1991, where he continued to hold seminars and conferences on those topics.
In 1994 Hoops founded Christ Reformed Church (Colville, WA) and in 1999 he founded Emanuel Presbyterian Church of Colville and led them into joining the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. In 2001 Hoops moved back to California and took a position at Monte Vista Christian School (Watsonville) teaching Bible to middle and high school students. He and his wife, Gail, have raised three children (a daughter and two sons) and are now raising three adopted daughters at their home in Roseville. Rev. Hoops is a leader in the Reformed Christian faith, biblical- theological editor for Nordskog Publishing.
Nordskog Publishing utilizes several other (not shown) professional experienced team members in addition to those listed above, who are primary and key players on the team.
